Easter phonics activity

Today at home we tried some Easter themed phonics. We made cardboard carrots and slits in the bottom of a shoe box. I put the initial sounds on the bottom on the carrot. My daughter had to put the carrot out say the sound and match to the magnet letter.

We also pulled a carrot and had to find 3 things that began with that sound.

This activity can be scaled up to include simple words on the carrots using know sounds.  (at, it, sit, is)

You could also hide sounds on the back of eggs the children decorate. 🐰🥕

Posting the carrots back in the slits also helps fine motor skills.
