 Summer Fun Days in Nursery

Last week we enjoyed our fun days in Nursery.  We had a summer theme and made ice-cream, blew bubbles and made summer crowns which we took home.  We also tried some samba dancing. We hope you enjoy the photos we took!

Spring Flowers

In Nursery each week we have been learning the name of a plant or flower found in our school grounds.  These are the flower names we have learnt so far.  Next time you go for a walk, see if you can spot any of these flowers.....

 We worked with a partner to spot the flowers and tick off on our sheets

 We made some nature mandalas using materials we found including sticks, leaves, pebbles and petals.  You could make one of your own at home!

Art Week

 We really enjoyed Arts week this week in Nursery.  

We learnt about a famous artist called Jackson Pollock.  He made his paintings using a technique he called 'action painting'.  He put his canvas on the floor so he could move around it and worked from all sides.  He used sticks and kitchen items like a spatula and turkey baster to drip, drizzle, spread, splat and splash paint onto his canvas.

Planting potatoes

 We have planted some seed potatoes this week in Nursery.  
Check back to see how they grow.  We are looking forward to eating the potatoes we grow later in the year!

Science Week

This week in Nursery we have enjoyed science week.  We listened to some stories and tried out some fun experiments and investigations.  

Here we are making rocket mice from paper and using bottles to launch them.

We made a maze on a paper plate and used a magnet to guide a paper clip around!

We changed the colour of water using red cabbage.  It turned the water to a purple colour.  We changed the colour again using simple kitchen ingredients such as bicarbonate of soda, vinegar and lemon juice.

We also explored floating and sinking and had fun planting potatoes too!
