Physical Development

Obstacle Courses

Children in Nursery have enjoyed making obstacle courses this week.  These are great ways to support children's physical development.  You could try making your own at home with cushions, chairs and blankets!!

Growing

 Growing

We have been busy in Nursery planting and watching our seeds germinate and start to grow.

Look at these cress and mustard seeds starting to sprout and grow.  We will enjoy tasting this next week in a sandwich!

This sunflower seed now has a shoot and two leaves.  Look how the seed case is still attached to the leaves.

Our runner beans have been interesting to watch.  We can see everything that is happening as we are growing them inside a clear plastic bag.  The children noticed this week that the roots have started growing downwards.

Our tadpoles are also doing well and have now developed back legs!

Farn Animals

Farm Animals

We have enjoyed learning about farm animals this term.  We have enjoyed many songs and stories about farm animals including:

Old MacDonald had a Farm
Baa Baa Black Sheep
 Goats Went Marching
Busy Farmer Ben

We coloured these pictures of cows on the laptops.  Some children used the touch screens and others used the mouse pad.  Children used thier imagination to choose the colours!

We have learnt the names of baby animals and many of the names of animals using Makaton signs.  Ask your child to show you some at home!

Eid Celebrations in Nursery

We had fun learning about the Muslim celebration of Eid this week and we really enjoyed our Eid party on Thursday.

Children wore Eid clothes or party clothes to school to celebrate.

We decorated hats which said "Eid Mubarak" which means Happy Eid.

We decorated hands with Mendhi patterns.

We had a lovely party snack of fruit, biscuits and squash.

We also enjoyed party games and dancing in the hall.

Forest School 21st April 2022

We had our last session with the Forever Green Forest School teachers last week.  What a lovely last day we had. The weather was perfect, and the children were lovely. Their enthusiasm and excitement are always a joy.

Nursery enjoyed the theme of dragons. Instead of cooking with this group we gave them an opportunity to use the mallets to tap tent pegs into the ground. This really supports the development of their concentration and hand eye coordination. I noticed that their teacher also used it as an opportunity to practice counting.

Nursery also really enjoyed making ‘Dragon soup’ in our mud kitchen, adding lots of different ingredients including a large dose of imagination.

At the end of the session we sang our goodbye song, and the children then ate their pop-it-in apple doughnuts back in class.

Enjoy looking at the photos from the session.
